Training packages - Learning examples

Example of trainer manual and activity resources

Full course packages for trainers to use to conduct a session ensure that learning stays similar no matter who is taking the course. This is important when a course is being delivered from a number of sites by a number of trainers but the trainees need to meet a nationally-agreed standard. Experiential activities were used to develop skills outside the Unit Standards, but necessary for trainees who were being singled out for management potential. View a sample of marketing activities developed for a wood manufacturing ITO.

Example of a simple online training resource

Sometimes being comfortable about changing attitudes is important. Procrastinating about challenging tasks was likely for this group. They were being asked to prepare and present group reports. We suspected that they would procrastinate about getting started and then their preconceived ideas that presenting a report would be fulfilled - they'd fail. We decided to give them the information one on one via the computer AND they could refer to it from home, if they chose.

Example of an online interactive training resource

Who doesn't like to play/ Not many of us, but it's even better when the play is done for WORK!

We decided to make a template of a simple game that acted as a self-checking test for trainees before they tackled an assessment. It is a simple multiple-choice but dressed up with a bit of a challenge because you have to find the question triggers in the picture. A Guide button can be added to give clues to the trigger positions and we could add a timer, just to put the pressure on.

Enter any 'name' and 'password' to test the game.

Example of an online resource using ASP script

The Productivity Calculator was designed to show trainees how a small percentage change in productivity could translate into large numbers of dollars.

Trainees can select one or a number of factors to change and then check out the company's 'bottomline' to see the effect. It was eye-opening for some trainees who did not realise the impact a small improvement could make.

This kind of resource must be served on a web server but can sit behind a web page as a 'blind' link that only trainers know about. It can be adapted to a number of different uses where one or more factors make a big difference in income or production figures.

Example of an information rich CD ROM program

When you need to communicate a lot of information and have it stored on a small transportable space then a Data CD ROM is a great way to start. This client was able to store a huge amount of information that was easily accessible on a low spec computer with a CD drive.

Example of an illustrated operation procedure

Sometimes training is more about memorising a procedure. People who work in manual occupations often don't like to get information from text. They would prefer pictures or practising with someone watching over their shoulder.

Illustrated procedures might be longer than normal SOPs but they give the operator 'the picture' - literally.

NOTE: This is a large pdf file and takes time to load.
