Cash in hand is worth more than in the book!

The New Zealand Government provides a fund (excuse the pun!) of financial information for starting businesses.

Under 'Finances' and 'Cashflow' you can find out about:

  • Grants
  • Finance sources
  • Pricing and terms of trade
  • Business cashflow
  • Financial regulations
  • Financial records
  • Financial statements

Use all that is out there to help you manage your money.

Working with advisors

As you grow the business, you will need to employ more staff. This means you will not only have to manage the administration for paying those staff, but will also need to think about training them. Remember that the greatest asset you can develop is your staff. They will reflect your business out into the world.

Best advice

The bigger you grow, the more likely you are to need support from advisors. The National Bank solution guide - How to get the most out of your advisors - has this to say:

  • Don't hesitate to ask for help because you're worried about receiving a bill. Weigh up the cost of not getting advice (for example in a transaction involving legal or tax matters).
  • Cheap advice might be useless. You generally get what you pay for.
  • Seek advisors who are able to add far more value to your business than their fees.

Staff training advice

Edutech KM is happy to advise you over how to develop your staff through tailor-made training that will benefit your business outcomes. Just email us or make an enquiry.

We can even put you in touch with local business advisors who can help you manage other parts of your business, including your financials.
