Meeting the needs of health organisations

Much of the proprietary software developed for the health industry has been targeted at those organisations with large employee bases and equally large budgets. These software packages do not necessarily suit smaller community health organisations and NGOs. For this group, sometimes, a less sophisticated solution can be beneficial.

Needs analysis

The organsation needs to first develop a long-term plan of how it will reach the goal to make the best use of computer technology. If the organisation is likely to grow, it is important that any low-end solution can grow with it. There are many simple pieces of software available that can be upgraded to higher-end solutions with minimal disruption to the organisation. Avoiding costly reworking of a low-end solution is only a matter of planning.
