About our process Although inevitably some of these processes overlap, we see the development
of projects as consisting of five main steps. When we plan a timeline
we check to see that we are able to define a clear end time for each process.
This will be either a sign-off day or hand-over to the client. Step 1: Analyse - Business analysis and planEdutech KM will help to identify the knowledge needs of your organisation and to prioritise what should be done. This enables you to match your investment with the resources available and the ability of your people to cope with change. The needs analysis engages us in a listening process that builds our knowledge of what your organisation is trying to achieve and how this can be supported by knowledge management. We can produce a document that specifies a knowledge management plan outlining the context and rationale for each recommendation, and specifying projects that you can undertake when ready. We are also able to bring a national or international perspective to industry regulations, health and safety, education and adult literacy. Step 2: Design - Pilot projectWe recommend a small, high-priority project that will deliver initial results and enable us to identify the best implementation process for your organisation. During the design process we work closely with your people, taking their needs and learning styles into account. This helps them get to know us better, builds trust in us and develops buy-in as they see their own relevant knowledge being implemented in the system. Step 3: Develop - Pilot and main projectAs the project is developed, we use collaborative feedback so that what emerges feels comfortable for all user levels. Managers and trainers are able to see how effectively we utilise their existing technology, information and databases - the effect is a sense of order emerging from complexity. Step 4: ImplementOnce a pilot project has been successfully implemented, clients are usually eager to move into a full-scale knowledge management process. We work closely with all stakeholders in the project. We make sure the system will last - that it will be easy to update and expand so as to fit your ongoing requirements. While knowledge management is a complex art, we pride ourselves on implementing projects with a deft touch, engaging managers, employees and end-users where required, but implementing our systems unobtrusively and with minimal disruption to daily routine. We beat the do-it-yourself approach because we are able to focus entirely on the solutions and can respond quickly to those who provide knowledge and information. Step 5: EvaluateThe final step is to evaluate what is happening. We do this through a system of feedback - either formal or informal, depending on the needs and resources of the client. If something needs fixing, we fix it. Where the project is part of a larger resource, we work with the client to decide how the evaluation outcomes will be built into future work.
